True Colors Infinity Journal and Inspire Journal

Colors flying from my hands!!!!

That pretty much sums up what the last 24 hours have been like for me. Fabrics and papers flying hither and yon. Trails of fabric bits and paper are everywhere; even the bathroom. I just listed this baby in my Etsy shop. It has already been reserved for a certain someone. I already have another Infinity in the works.

I also managed to finish up another smaller journal; Inspire. This one is ready for adoption in my Etsy shop.

Inspire is a 6" tall by 4.5" wide journal with a 27" wrap around enclosure.

There are 20 total page with 8 fabric pages with pockets and hiding places.

This is a work in progress. The wrap around is just an extra length I had sewed for a different journal but never used so I will be making one and adding it from the fabric used for the cover but I had to take pics to share.

 This is just a quick peek at how the journal is coming together. I used 300 pd water color paper for the insert in the cover. It is solid and feels like a hard cover book. The pages are not yet bound in. I just nestled them into their spines to see how it all looked. There are a total of 8 working spines in this journal that hold a signature of 5 pages for a total of 10 per spine.  The spines tuck under each other, so it can be journaled in. Once it is opened, a quarter turn in your hands leads you to the next spine of pages and so on through all 8 spines. A journal to be explored, a surprise at every turn.

I am excited to work on all the pages; fabric pages to be sewed, pockets to create, bits and pieces to hide inside. I am going to be having fun and this will be available for adoption in my Etsy shop very soon. And another one is very close behind this one.  

It is 3:11 AM and I have no intention of going anywhere near my bed.

The Comforts of Home

Happy Thanksgiving to each and every one of you. Wishing you a day filled with all the comforts of being at home with your loved ones. Treasure the moments.

My DH has to be at work today so I have dinner in the oven, all the fixin's ready to go when he gets home later. DD's are entertaining themselves. Sometimes it is great to have teenagers under the roof. They really do bring me so much joy, my heart sometimes burst from so much love and then there is the reality but the love part is worth anything they might throw my way; the love wins out every time.

So since I don't have to be anywhere, I have many hours stretching out in front of me to create and today I am working on a brand new journal design that I began yesterday that I hope to have in my Etsy shop and ready for 'black Friday'.

It measures 5" tall by 5" wide and expands to about 5" long but that could change as I add the pages.

Today I put the finishing touches on this journal;

Love Tis The Season, this journal is 6" tall by 5 1/4" wide with a 35" wrap around enclosure. The cover has a small resin cast heart shaped button, ready to open to what is held safely inside, 20 pages of pure bliss, lots of pockets and hiding places, lightly collage pages nestled next to decorative cardstock pages and plenty of room to journal in. I added tags with stitched details ready for notes and thoughts. Today there is lots of love to go around. Here are just a few more page peeks.

The Colors of the Season

Tis the season of colors. What do you see?

I see bright and twinkling lights in the night, fragile glass ornaments hanging on the branches of a Christmas tree. I see magic and wonder.

Yummy hot chocolate, chewy caramels, and fresh backed gingerbread cookies.

The warmth of a fire turning to embers.

A landscape muted by snow, barren trees that brace against the wind.

All these colors have gathered on my art table just waiting to become something special. It never ceases to amaze me the enchantment that presents itself in color. Pick any time of year and color will play a role. What would the world be like if we did not see it in color? Try and imagine this season turned back in time, everything in black and white. As if color had yet to be invented. Can you imagine what it would be like if we were all trapped in the original version of 'It's A Wonderful Life' what if somehow the colors got lost, what if they simply ceased to exist, try and imagine a Christmas without the many shades of red and green and every color in between. This is what it would look like.

I think it would be a very different world if this is how we saw it every day. Celebrate color!!!!!



Stretching Outwards Into My Life

Today I am stretching into my life, taking a deep breath and facing outwards towards the sun. My own personal form of yoga for my creative heart.

I encourage all to stretch into their lives, loosen the muscles and relax and enjoy even the smallest of pleasures and make them your own. Today, my pleasure has taken me to my sewing machine, I have held a paint brush and made big, bold strokes with it, enjoying the creative movement from one place to another; one project to the next. It feels very good.

The above is my spread in Erin's journal. I decided to create with fabric for her pages. I dyed some the fabrics I used for this spread by wetting plain muslin and then squirting acrylic inks onto the wet fabric so it would bleed out and into the fibers. I let the fabric dry and then heat set the ink with a hot iron.

She learned to love him before he thought it was even possible, so he didn't have a chance to hide & mess it up & while it was a little scary at times, mainly he could not even imagine the world without her there.

This is a fabric pockete page in the journal I am currently working on.

Life is busy this time of year. It can be hectic and crazy to the point of wishing you could be like a bear and maybe hibernate in peace till the insanity of the holidays pass by and move you into a new year. Just remember this, that somebody out there loves you and couldn't imagine their world without you in it. Carry that thought with you as this time of year spreads itself out in front of you and wraps you in the magic. Let the magic happen.
