Daily Scrap
Snow fall at night.
It's just passing through.
Some of it might stay for
an extended visit.
I don't mind.
I love snow.
I love the chilly, frosty air.
Fresh, bold, gripping.
I love long winter nights
spent down in my
cozy art studio
while the rest of
the world sleeps.
I'll treasure this time,
for winter is
just passing through.
I've been spending my time working in my visual journal,
making fragment collages, making a mess with spray inks and diving into deep, pools of color that make me so happy. I've fallen hard in love with Dylusions spray inks. The colors are so rich, bright and intense.
LOVE 'EM A LOT!
After all it is February, what better month to fall in love I ask you?
COLOR! YES. MORE PLEASE!
I started out with 4 bottles. Now I've got 10.
Just
at play.
But tomorrow, dawn will come
the way I picture her,
barefoot and disheveled,
standing outside my window
in one of her fragile
cotton dresses of the poor.
She will look in at me
with her thin arms extended,
offering a handful of birdsong
and a small cup of light.
Billy Collins
None of these pages are complete.
I will go back add more bits of whatever happens to cross my path at the time. My goal right now is to at least have something on each of the 180 pages of this journal, images that I can use as a jumping off point, a place for my thoughts to fall,
a soft spot for my dreams to rest upon, a place to capture my whispers, yells, or screams of delight; sometimes fury
these pages of fragments are like sign posts
guiding my footing, beginnings;
the endings have not been written yet.

ahhhh... such a fine, delicate touch you have, susie. that's what i think when i see the lines you draw - and your collages. they're never too heavy handed. light as a feather but heavy with meaning. such a pleasure to rest my eyes on...
